About the site

Web sites done with Microsoft FrontPage have a reputation of being amateurish, cookie-cutter and oh so 1995. Still, it’s a reasonable choice when the client wants flexibility in maintaining their own web site—if you throw out the canned designs.

Jean wanted a site that conveys both the warmth and professionalism she brings to teaching piano, and that would attract business from her upscale neighborhood.

We went through literally thousands of stock photos for the page header graphic before choosing this one of Carnegie Hall. This sets the upscale tone and reminds students of how far training and practice can take them.

From it, we chose colors for the rest of the site and developed a design that’s flexible enough to accommodate all audiences and information needs, while still being easy and flexible enough to change as situations arise.

The site even includes a passworded section where students can login to contact each other and to access extra credit coursework.

Results

Students like that they can easily contact each other through the site to trade lesson times. This also helps Jean keep her focus on teaching rather than scheduling.

In less than a year since putting up the site, it has helped increase business enough so that Jean could fulfill her lifelong dream of owning a Steinway grand.
